MY PAST YEAR + Why im making new years resolutions!

I'm guilty of making New years resolutions and not sticking to them a few months down the line. Every year I say I will go to the gym 2-3 times a week, drink more water, get enough sleep, practice daily meditation and get more organized.
EVERY year for the past 5 or so years these have been my resolutions and I always feel so disheartened when I don't stick with them.

Well, This year I actually AM going to stick to them. They're in writing now so I kind of have to - Right!?

I'll let you guys know a little bit more about myself and why I want...and need to make positive changes!
Over the past few years, I've had my fair share of tough times (It ends well.. don't worry!).
I left my cinema job of 3 years to go to university and study Marketing. I have so much passion and drive to succeed in my life, and business is something I'm genuinely interested in.
About a year before I started university, I started to get random lower abdominal cramps. They were constant - every hour of every day and it was breaking me.
I was scared, and it made daily life so difficult.
I had everything to be happy about, a great family and boyfriend, a lovely house, but the constant pain just made me feel so sad.
Skip forward to my second year at university, and I found I was struggling more than ever. The combination of these random pains (Including multiple trips to the doctor and hospital, even mention of the C word - Which thankfully they have pretty much ruled out at this stage), along with the huge workload made me start to get random panic attacks, and my anxiety reared its lovely head.

All of this whilst i tried to maintain my Youtube channel, blog and Instagram.
I want to be able to post all the time, I constantly have ideas and want to connect with people - But life has made it near impossible at times.

So I decided to take a bit of control.
In October 2017 I began 6 weeks of counseling, arranged through my university.
My counselor was SUCH a sweet lady and turns out we both had a love for Harry Potter in common. Counselling has helped me so incredibly much.
She told me to categorize my worries into 3: Things I can change immediately, Things that I can change over time, and things I have no control of. And then to let go of worrying so much about the things I have no control over.
I also overcame my pretty much lifelong fear of flying. And I haven't had a panic attack since.
I N C R E D I B L E.

However throughout all of this, I've had some amazing experiences in 2017 to look back on and smile at.
  • I reached 100,000 subscribers on my Youtube channel. I still can't believe it.
  • I went on my first blogger trip to Paris with Alcatel and partied in an apartment on the Champs-Élysées
  • At the Novotel Paris hotel before the Alcatel party!
My dress is from ASOS but is past season.
  • Passed my second year of university with a high 2.1 grade
  • Saw my sister win the Blogosphere awards 'Food blogger of the year'. Im so proud!
  • Meet so many lovely subscribers out and about
  • .. and also meet so many fellow Youtubers and Bloggers who I now consider to be friends!
  • Had dinner at the Shard Shangri-la restaurant, 35 floors in the sky
  • My lower abdominal cramps chilled tf out
  • Randomly bumped into the queen of youtube, Zoella, on Carnaby Street
I have a lot to be thankful for :)

And now... For my resolutions!

I do actually want to get fit. Not just to build a much-needed butt to replace this stack of pancakes that I have.. but also for my mental health!
I LOVE working out, it gives me such a boost of adrenaline and endorphins and makes me feel so great. I've not had a proper gym schedule, so from now on I'll be going at LEAST twice a week.
An hour a day, twice a week is very much do-able and not much to ask of myself - It will hopefully get me into a nice routine!
Ive also just bought the book 'The Bikini body motivations and habits guide' by Kayla Itsines.
Ive been following Kayla on social media for years and years, she is a huge fitness inspiration for me and the book is cram packed with meal ideas and workout plans. I'd definitely recommend you check out Kayla, her books and guides! I have her 'Bikini body guide' already downloaded as an e-book on my mobile to follow her workouts for when im at the gym.

I also want to make proper use of my diary.
I buy one every year and by June its completely empty - Oops!
I've bought myself a nice 'The Walking dead' 2018 diary, and as extra motivation, there is a nice picture of my babe Daryl on the October pages. So I kinda have to make it at least that far in haha.

I'm also going full time with my Youtube channel the SECOND. The actual second I finish at university and I couldnt be more excited. I have huge plans and ideas, and I can't wait to have the time to create the content ive always wanted to.

I do have high hopes for 2018.
I'm an optimist anyway so i'm constantly thinking about the good that the future will hold.
I've got a fantastic family around me, a wonderful boyfriend, a girl-boss sister, some great friends and a fabulous youtube subscriber fam who always have nice things to say!

I'm headed to New York this year, and I dont want that to be my only abroad trip! I want to travel as much as I possibly can.

What are your hopes and dreams for 2018? Do you have any new years resolutions?
Let me know in the comments!
